Brookings-Harbor, Oregon
Hi! We're Rich and Kathleen Dickson, owners of OtterBee’s Farm & Fungi. We are located in Brookings-Harbor, Oregon, just off Highway 101 near the Oregon-California border, on a 6-1/2 acre piece of land which we lease. We started farming in 2007, the same year we started our CSA program. At OtterBee’s, we grow our fruits and vegetables using a chemical-free, intensive, raised-bed system. We’ve been members of Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) for the past five years. Most of what we grow is only available through our CSA. This year we have planted peas, carrots, kohlrabi, scallions, kale, chard, beans, leeks, onions, Brussels sprouts, Romanesco cauliflower, garlic and fingerling potatoes. We also have a growing berry patch with raspberries (both red and yellow), strawberries and marionberries. We have various herbs planted here and there, along with calendula, marigold, viola and nasturtium flowers for color. When we're not farming (and even sometimes when we are!), we harvest edible wild mushrooms from our local forest - mushrooms like chanterelle, morel, black trumpet and hedgehog. We are also learning to grown organic oyster mushrooms.(This listing was last updated on November 24, 2011)
