still river farm started with growing greenhouse raspaberries for a few years until heating the greenhouse made the effort unprofitable. for a few more years we raised a variety of vegetables for sale at coops, farm markets and groceries. it was good hard work however i wanted to get into growing something unusual. i saw an advertisement for a combine for sale and responded. we were now wheat farmers. the market was unknown and the success of wheat growing in connecticut unestablished. i'm glad to report wheat is doable and there is a market for it. the idea of connecticut grown grain made into local bread products sounds good. this is our third year into the venture and look forward to expanding both the production and sale of local wheat.
