We use a flashlight and salt, beer in a cup, and coffee grounds to deal with slugs. We also use the dawn dish soap in a very mild solution for worms. We also use ladybugs and praying mantis in the garden to help. We are constantly looking for other natural ways to deal with pests. We do not use any commercial sprays or chemicals. |

| Please describe your buffer. Be as specific as possible. On all sides, how far is it from your crops to the next closest use (road, conventional crop, residential yard)? Be sure to specify what is grown on neighboring land that is in agricultural use. For example: To the north and east, a wooded area of at least 100 yards separates us from the neighbor's corn fields, to the south is a fallow field at least 100 yards deep separating us from the road, and to the west about 60 feet separates our crops from a field where conventional corn and soybeans are grown. | No one else uses or is growing any thing that would have sprays used on it within 1/4 mile of us on the south, north, east and the nearest road to one of our gardens is 50 ft down hill through trees and shrubs with a 18 inch embankment along the garden edge on that side and we are primarily up wind from it. We have a no spray zone on the road also. |
Agreements
| Please indicate your agreement with the following statements by checking the boxes. | |
| I will not label, or in any way lead consumers to believe that produce not raised in accord with CNG standards is Certified Naturally GrownTM. | |
| I understand that I have to complete at least one (and hopefully more) Certification Inspection(s) of another farm in my area each year, and that the inspection will NOT be of the same farmer that inspected me. | |
| I have reviewed the Certified Naturally Grown certification standards, I understand them, and I will abide by them. I understand that if I have any questions I may contact CNG for clarification. | |
| You may use this space to tell us anything else you think we should know about your farm: | Basically we are a full fledged farm, as we do farm tours. We raise animals on our farm. The loction of our neighbors' gardens are well placed so as not to affect our gardens. We also try to keep the open animals out of the wind flow area to protect the gardens from contaminates as much as possible. We realize that it is almost impossible to keep all contaminates off gardens, especially like the fuel being dumped from aircraft so we hand water with spray all our gardens and plants to help prevent contaminates. The fruit trees are at gods mercy, we do not water, spray, or fertilize them with anything. We run a very clean, safe and careful operation. Our produce is only sold at the farm for our and our customers protection as we want to control them until the customer purchase them. We do not sell wholesale. We do sell transplants during our garden thinning process. We do not allow animals in our garden areas. Customers are controlled as to where they walk. Thanks |
