Jims Year Round Produce
Juliaetta, Idaho
We are a family of 4 that live on the farm site that includes house, processing center, greenhouse, roadside stand, outbuildings, and fields. We do a lot of cover cropping and crop rotation for soil nutrition and to avoid pathogens and pests. We build our beds, then add compost to the bed. We have chickens and a llama and use the manure for composting. We use crop row covers to protect from the pests, and if we have access, bio-controls. We plant lots of flowers to attract beneficial insects and we have sacrificial plants. We use drip line irrigation and black mats to control the weeds, and the good ole' hoe. We start out growing the cold weather crops like peas, kale, swiss chard, lettuce, arugula, potatoes, onions, radishes, turnips. Then we move on to the warmer weather crops like cucumbers, zucchini, 18 different vareities of organic heirloom tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, melons, green beans, cherry tomatoes, corn and more. Then we move on to the fall crop like winter squash which we grow several varieties of and another round of fresh fall greens and pumpkins. All of our varities are organic heirloom and super delicious. We sell to the Moscow Food Co-op,and we attend several local Farmers Markets. We also have CSA's and a roadside stand open from 10:00-6:00 Monday thru Saturday.(This listing was last updated on April 19, 2013)
