Snick's Farm
Jonesville, Michigan
The primary goal Snick's Farm is to meet the demand of the people who care about where their food comes from and how it is grown. In a Country where people have lost touch with the people who grow their food we hope to reintroduce them to the farmer. In 2010 we planted a three acre garden with a wide variety of tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, watermelons, sweet corn, potatoes, beans, cabbages, squashes, onions, and several other crops. A lot of lesson were learned and changes have been made for the better. We want to grow what the customers wants to eat. So we don't use any chemical fertilizers, treated seeds, GMOs, and we continue to farm without the use of chemical pesticides. We now use compost and organic fertilizers to provide the nutrients to make our vegetables strong and healthy, which gives them the strength to fight off insects and disease without the need for excessive use of chemicals. We are true believers in the importance of diversity and selling to the end consumer, therefore we don't do wholesale. Our primary markets are The Green Market in Jackson, The Battle Creek Farmers Market, and our Roadside Stand right in front of the farm on M-99. We also keep a wide variety of livestock including chickens, rabbits, ducks, hogs, goats, sheep, and by 2013 we plan to add some cattle to the mix. All of which have which will be primary pasture raised. As the hens and hogs we are supporting a developing local feed supplier who will be able to provide us with 100% non-GMO/no spray grain so that we will be able to have all our livestock Certified Naturally Grown by 2012.(This listing was last updated on May 16, 2013)
