Shady Grove Farm U.P., Llc
Gwinn, Michigan
We are a small, diverse farm focusing on permaculture design. We are working hard toward creating a local food system in our community and we recently won our Michigan Right to Farm court case brought against us by our township, fighting for LOCAL FOOD rights and Food Freedom! Read the judges opinion here http://www.shadygrovefarmup.com/home.html We believe it is our constitutional right to grow food and have livestock, as long as we do it responsibly, remaining good stewards of the land! As of October 18, 2012 we are the first MAEAP verified farm in Marquette County! Our court dates were November 20 and 21 in the Marquette County Circuit Court. We would like to thank CNG for all they do, as well as the Farm-To-Consumer Legal Defense Fund for taking our case! It is our hope to be able to continue to provide our community with the most nutrional, fresh, locally and sustainably grown produce and eggs! We also own and run the Gwinn Farmers Market, making local, healthy food accessible to everyone in our community! Please, stop by and see what we're up to! Here is a short video summarizing our legal case involving zoning vs. the Michigan Right to Farm Act. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zdja89FRMT0(This listing was last updated on April 19, 2013)
