Sawmill Creek Farms
Paradise, California
For the past ten years we've been growing fresh produce on our gently sloping lot just a few miles from the Feather River Canyon in the western Sierra foothills. What began as a small home garden has slowly expanded to a three acre farm that includes a heated propagation house, several coldframes, and the carefully tended fields where we grow a variety of edibles. In the spring we harvest cole crops, favas, beets, assorted greens and lettuce, as well as providing a wide assortment of veggie plant starts for fellow gardeners. Then it's time for the summer favorites, and we're especially well known for our heirloom tomatoes and specialty peppers. Fall sees a return to cool season crops, and that's also when we begin smoking and drying peppers for our spice powders. Then, in early Janurary, the whole cycle starts up again. This season we'll be embarking on an exciting new project, working with a local non-profit and growing a dedicated acre of produce for donation to local food banks. To help fund this effort, we'll also be expanding membership in our weekly CSA.(This listing was last updated on May 02, 2013)
