Bridge Avenue Berries

We are a blueberry farm located on the banks of the west branch of the Susquehanna River that was started back in the 1960’s by a plant breeder who was employed at the University of Maryland. At that time our seven acre field of blueberry bushes were all seedling of crosses made by this individual in his attempt to try and find a new blueberry cultivar to introduce to the trade. Unfortunately he died before he could introduce any to the trade. The farm was bought and sold several times over the years and bushes were removed and added over those years. My wife and I purchased the farm in 2018, renamed it Bridge Avenue Berries and started on the process of farming using natural fertilizers and pest controls and worked towards becoming USDA Certified Organic. As we began to rejuvenate the blueberry bushes around the field we realized several hundred of the original bushes still existed. We have pruned those bushes and brought them back to being very productive and are they have some of the most unique and wonderful flavors you will find in our field!
In 2021 we became USDA Certified Organic and we maintained that certification until 2024 when we switch over to Certified Naturally Grown. CNG fits us so much better and we still farm using the National Organic Program as the foundation of our farming practices.
July is blueberry season at Bridge Avenue Berries. We provide berries already picked and packaged for sale during the season as well as plenty of u-picking. We look forward to seeing you! Harry and Susan Jones
