Weed suppression, erosion prevention, nitrogen fixation, salt uptake, forage production, water retention, pollinator and predatory habitat, decontamination–the list goes on–can all be made better with the right cover crop mix and strategy. We’ll not only talk about cover crop species and mixes based on soil health goals, but also dig into the in-field aspects of cover cropping, including: photosynthesis and exudates, the soil food web, seasonality, scale-based tools, field preparation, seeding methods, rates, and timing, termination, and succeeding crop success.
